Podcasts

In ‘World on Wire’, my co-host Nils Tillmann and I give insight into  forgotten conflicts or ignored humanitarian crises.
(In season 1, we connected local stories in the Global South to global systems).

In Denmark, I was the editor in chief and coordinator of a wonderful women-only team implementing the concept of “Slow News”. As a contributor, I mainly worked on forgotten crises.

Academic publications, talks & conferences

I work with written and spoken words and they can also take the form of voiceovers behind the camera or posts and tweets. I am fascinated by the (sometimes shocking) beauty that lies within every one of us and our planet, hence I try to photograph, too.

TV experience

So far, I have produced a few news pieces for a local Congolese TV station and gained short experience in being a news anchor in Goma. I am eager to learn more about video production!

Social media campaigns

When used responsibly, strategically and creatively, social media has the power to transport important messages to a broad audience, establish a brand, and create an informed public discourse. I have experience doing so in the civic, political and sports sector!

Photography

I am learning to use the camera not as a barrier between me and the world, but as an entry point and bridge between different realities and people. It is an honour to capture human emotions illustrate important moments, and show the fragility of our planet.

My top picks for you

This interview with Ashraf Kasirye about police brutality against journalists in Uganda is a must-listen.

(Shortly after the interview, Ashraf was shot in the head by police. He survived and is recovering.)

World on Wire, December 2020

If you have an hour, please listen to this interview with Eritrean activist Meron Estefanos. She gives harrowing insights into the situation in Eritrea and of hundreds of thousands of refugees that are enslaved, tortured, or killed on their refugee journeys.

Journalists in the North-Kivu

NRWZ, Mai – Oktober 2021

On this research blog, I analyse how internet shutdowns are increasingly used as a power tactic in conflict and war situations.
